An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a given site. Each and every file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have one page with 3 embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the six files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s Operating System, worldwide web browser and IP address. Sometimes you can also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The information an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. As soon as you sign in to your shared hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your PC and look at it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer need one, you can stop it with simply a click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You will still have the ability to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our state-of-the-art hosting platform will create access logs for each website hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, as long as this feature is activated. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we offer with all the accounts, so if you would like our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You may stop this function whenever you want by following the exact same steps. You will find a Download link for each log in the same exact section of the CP, so you can save the content generated by our system in .txt format with simply a mouse click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to view the data which has already been generated.
